 Drop off and Pick up:

There are 2 main locations for unloading boats. Parking Marshals from ASC will be available at entrances to both locations from 7:30am, to guide and direct visitors.

  1. Avalon Sailing Club, via Old Wharf Reserve
  • The road down through Old Wharf Reserve is very narrow and windy, and unsuitable for trailers at this busy time. Boats arriving on cars with roof racks may be unloaded on the Old Wharf Road.
  • Please note that once unloaded, you may be directed back up to Hudson Parade for parking.
  1. Clareville Boat Ramp, via Delecta Ave
  • Parking is available in Delecta Ave for free, or in the adjacent “pay and display” parking area.
  • We will aim to keep the area beside the boat ramp clear for trailer parking. Wherever you park your trailer, in order to avoid a fine from the ranger please park it parallel or angled slightly out (but not in), and detached from your car if the combined length is over 7m.
  • Please ensure access to private properties is respected at all times.
  • Boats rigged at Clareville Beach will be towed by ASC Marshals for storage on the deck. Boat racks will also need to be transported.
  • This ramp is also suitable for the launching of small spectator boats.

Loading after racing on Sunday will be the reverse procedure.

Overnight Storage:

  • Boats are expected to be left on the deck for overnight storage.
  • The deck will be floodlit and the gates locked.
  • Please take care to secure small items.

Deck Management:

  • Please clearly label your rack for easy identification in a crowd!
  • Rigging space is limited so sailors are asked to follow direction from the deck marshals, keep access lanes clear and be tolerant and courteous to the needs of others.
  • To avoid traffic jams, please let boats near the side deck and pontoon lanes launch first.
  • Hoses and water cans will be available for washing down boats.

Briefings:

  • Race briefings will be conducted in the upper level club room at ASC.
  • Official notices will be posted on the upper level notice board at the club.
  • Sign on and sign off sheets will be located in the vicinity of the Official Noticeboard.
  • Flag signals will be made from the flagmast on the southern end of the Club's upper verandah

Canteen:

The canteen will be operating throughout the weekend, serving gourmet pies, sausage rolls, rolls, home-baked goodies, snacks and drinks.

Breakfast - Bacon & egg rolls will be available on the deck on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Lunch - Orders will be taken each morning for “Lunch Bags”. Ordering will help us to manage food efficiently.
A variety of other food and drinks will be available for purchase at the canteen.

Sausage sizzle for sailors - on Saturday and Sunday after the racing.

Happy Hour – Nibblies Platters along with beer, wine and other drinks and will be on sale in the afternoon.

Dinner – The BBQs will be fired up for cooking your own sausages and kebabs, which can be purchased from the canteen. Menus from local takeaway restaurants will also be available.

Post-Racing Special Treat:

As a special treat, we are excited to announce that about 5 Couta Boat skippers have generously volunteered to take sailors out for a sail after racing on Saturday. These beautiful heritage timber boats will provide a wonderful experience for our young sailors, and we encourage them to stay around after pack up for the opportunity.

Spectator Boats:

A string line should be available off the club for inflatables and small boats to moor free of charge.

Moorings:

There are currently a couple of deepwater swing moorings available near the clubhouse, for a minimal casual mooring fee. These are suitable for boats up to 36 foot long. Anchorage is also available outside the mooring area. For further details, please contact Valerie as per details below.

Accommodation:

Sleeping overnight on the Saturday night will be permitted for a minimal fee of $20 per person. This will be very basic, upstairs on the open floor of the ASC clubhouse, and there are no guarantees about when everyone else will be gone. Please supply your own mattress and sleeping bag. The upstairs toilets, showers and change rooms will be accessible.
