Winter Series Race #4 Results

On Sunday, it was Race #4 of the Winter Series. Twelve yachts participated in the race.

From all reports Goldfinger, with David Evans on the helm, was hardly seen. She finished two minutes ahead of the next yacht. Well done. Here’s Trouble, helmed by Alan Bertram, was in better form this race, taking the 4 minute spinnaker penalty and making the most of it. She finished in 2nd place. Also on the comeback was Under Pressure with spinnaker, taking out 3rd position. It looks like spinnaker was the right call for the day.
Other positions were: 4th: Kama III; 5th: Panchax; 6th: Just Magic II; 7th: Diablo; 8th: Bandaleni; 9th: Wimmera; 10th: Summer Wine; 11th: Laura; 12th (DNF): Iluka

In terms of the series (with 1 drop): Panchax leads on 6; followed by Just Magic II on 8; Kama III on 10, and Here’s Trouble on 13. There’s one race to go.
The race was handicapped for 140 minutes. The mid-fleet yacht time was 149 minutes, so that was pretty good. The order on corrected time was pretty much the same.

Sydney Harbour observations (Wedding Cake West) were 10-15kt, with gusts 14-22kt, from the NNW turning to NNE. It sounds like it was similar on Pittwater, with the wind lightening throughout the day.
